What do we do at Wonder Art?
While exploring a theme (The body, Civilizations, Our environment…), the children will have a fulfilling experience inspired by the initiation to Western, African, Asian… artist’s production (Art appreciation as an introduction).
Follows a musical and movement interlude (time for miming, acting, dancing… on the theme), and finally the time to produce their own creative works.
The children get a chance to experience self- expression through different mediums as they discover how famous artists expressed their own environment or feelings.
The children are encouraged to do things their own way and therefore to trust their abilities.
Evaluation, competition, “arty academic” expectations stay out of the classroom! Children are simply encouraged to explore art and their own secret worlds: nothing less!
Medium: Painting, drawing, collage, working with clay, printing, making weird things!
Aims:
- to refine the artistic senses;
- to nurture different inspirations, offering a wide range of mediums and techniques;
- to learn how to look at works of art (learning the elements and principles of design);
- to develop imagination and fine motor skills;
- to connect feelings with movement and artistic expression;
- to enhance self-confidence
- to encourage inherent creativity so that it will not fizzle under the stresses of school!
